Location

History

Doi Station opened on 14 June 1932 with the Keihan Main Line's track relocation, in Moriguchi, Osaka Prefecture. The Keihan Commercial School - which once stood on the site of today's Moriguchi Municipal Satsuki Gakuen - had lobbied hard for a stop in the area; the station opened just eight months after the nearby Takii station, even though the two are only about 400 metres apart. The line was quadruple-tracked through here on 29 December 1933. The station building was refurbished and its platforms lengthened for eight-car trains in 1992, and following accessibility work a wheelchair-accessible elevator and a multipurpose toilet entered service on 5 and 12 March 2011. The station carries the number KH10. Usage peaked in 1966 at more than 20,000 passengers a day and has fallen since, in part because of population loss and the opening of nearby subway lines.

Notes

Doi and the neighbouring Takii station are only about 400 metres apart - the distance from the end of one station's platform to the other's is under 160 metres, about the length of an eight-car Keihan train (150 m) - and a November 2013 survey recorded an average of 23 passengers a day travelling between just those two stops.
