History

Dōgo-kōen Station is a stop on the Iyotetsu Jōnan Line in Dōgo-kōen and Dōgomachi 1-chōme, Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, with stop number 23; it is also known as Yuzukijō-ato-mae Station. It is used by city tram (Matsuyama City Line) routes 3 and 5. It opened in 1926 as Dōgo-kōen-mae Station. In January 2004, a safety zone for the Dōgo-Onsen-bound platform — until then absent because of the width of the road — was installed, completing safety zones at every stop on the city tram network. In March of the same year the track was shifted westward, and from March onward the station was renamed Dōgo-kōen Station.

Notes

When a safety zone was installed on the Dōgo-Onsen-bound side of this station in January 2004, it completed safety zones at every stop on the Matsuyama city tram network. The delay in installing the safety zone was due to the narrowness of the road in front of the station; it was finally built alongside the work to shift the track westward. The station is also known as Yuzukijō-ato-mae Station.
