History
Daisenji Station opened as Kamidaki-Kōen-shita Station on the Toyama Prefectural Railway on 10 June 1929. It was transferred to Toyama Chihō Railway through the general transport consolidation on 1 January 1943, becoming a station on that company's Tateyama Line. It was renamed successively to Daisenji-Kōen Station in 1959 and Daisenji-Yūen Station in 1967, and became a station on the Kamidaki Line when the Minami-Toyama–Iwakuraji section was split off as that line on 1 April 1969. The present station building, with its alignment shifted toward the mountain side, was completed on 9 November 1976 with the rebuilding of the Kamidaki bridge over the Jōganji River. The station became unstaffed in 1989, and was renamed to its present name on 1 April 1997, to coincide with the closure of the adjacent Daisenji Amusement Park.
Notes
Because the line clings to a hillside above the Jōganji River, Daisenji Station sits inside a 45.8-metre-long avalanche-protection tunnel built when the present elevated station replaced its predecessor in 1976.
