History
Daigakumae Station opened on 17 June 1921 as Shimohongō Station in present-day Ueda, Nagano Prefecture. It was renamed Honshu Daigaku Mae Station on 1 June 1966 and renamed again to its current Daigakumae form on 1 May 1974. Operated by the Ueda Electric Railway, it remains an unstaffed halt on the Bessho Line, with a single ground-level side platform serving a single bi-directional track. Station numbering was introduced in August 2016, assigning Daigakumae the identifier BE08.
Notes
Three institutions of higher learning — Nagano University, Ueda Women's Junior College, and the Nagano Prefectural Institute of Technology — stand near Daigakumae, whose name means "in front of the university"; the station itself was called Honshu Daigaku Mae from 1966 until 1974.
