Location

History

Chidorichō Station opened on 6 August 1926 as Keidai Ground-mae on the Ikegami Electric Railway, named for a nearby Keio University athletic field. It moved to its present location with double-tracking on 24 June 1927, an adjustment that prompted the closure of the nearby Kōmyōji Station. The station was renamed Chidorichō on 1 January 1936, after the contemporary place name Chidori-chō. Initially run only when university baseball games were held, it was later promoted to a regular stop. The crossover footbridge was removed and a Kamata-side ticket gate added on 30 November 2002. A "wood-themed" renovation began on 26 March 2025 and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2026.

Notes

The current renovation, started in March 2025, incorporates timber from both the Tama region and Akita Prefecture, with an art wall using traditional Akita woodworking techniques planned for the platform side.
