History
Buzen-Kawasaki Station was established as "Kawasaki Station" on 10 July 1899, when the Hōshū Railway opened the section from Gotōji Station (now Tagawa-Gotōji Station) to this station. The Hōshū Railway was bought out by the Kyushu Railway on 3 September 1901, and on 1 July 1907, with the nationalization of the Kyushu Railway, it came under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Railway Agency. It was renamed "Buzen-Kawasaki Station" on 1 May 1945. The Kamiyamada Line was extended to this station on 10 March 1966, completing that line, but the Kamiyamada Line was abolished in its entirety on 1 September 1988. It was taken over by JR Kyushu at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The current station building was completed in September 2000, at which time the passing facilities were also removed and the station rebuilt with a single side platform serving one track.
Notes
Although the station is the central station of Kawasaki Town, it lies somewhat to the southeast, off from the built-up area.
