History

Bitchū-Mishima Station opened newly on 1 January 1939 between Senoo and Hayashima on the Uno Line. It was suspended in 1940, but resumed operation on 14 November 1950. It became a station of JR West with the division and privatisation of Japanese National Railways in 1987, and now falls within both the Uno Minato Line and Seto-Ōhashi Line nickname sections. A simplified automatic ticket gate compatible with ICOCA was installed in 2007, and platform-raising work was completed in 2008. Because of delays in the double-tracking work toward Kukuhara, the station itself was left with a single platform.

Notes

In ICOCA usage records, the station name is displayed in a shortened form, as "Bimishima."
