History

Bampaku-Kinen-Kōen Station opened on 1 June 1990 on the first segment of the Osaka Monorail Main Line between Senri-Chūō and Minami-Ibaraki. The Saito Line (formally the International Cultural Park City Monorail Line) opened from here to Handai-Byōin-Mae on 1 October 1998, making the station the transfer point between the two lines. Platform screen doors entered service on 18 January 2020. The station was selected for the first Kinki Eki-Hyakusen list, and in 2015 it was given the nickname "Taiyō no Eki" (Sun Station). EXPOCITY, the commercial complex that opened in November 2015, has driven a sharp rise in usage.

Notes

A station with the identical Japanese name also exists on the Tsukuba Express in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, where a Tarō Okamoto monument titled Mirai o Miru stands in the plaza outside that station's east exit.
