History

Asuwayama-Kōenguchi Station (F20) is a Fukui Railway Fukubu Line tram stop in Keya, Fukui City, on prefectural road 28 (Phoenix-dōri). It opened on 15 October 1933 as Keyamachi Station when the Fukubu Electric Railway extended its line from Fukui-shin (today Sekijūji-mae) to Fukui-eki-mae (today Fukui-eki Stop). It was renamed Kōenguchi on 1 April 1962 when it was moved 100 m toward Kida-Yotsutsuji (today Shōkō-Kaigisho-mae), and renamed Asuwayama-Kōenguchi on 27 March 2016, the same day it was promoted to an Express stop.

Notes

The station's name comes from Asuwayama Park, near the stop, which hosts a children's amusement park, the Fukui Municipal Natural History Museum and the Fukui Tachibana Akemi Memorial Literature Museum.
