History
Asōzu Station was newly opened on 5 June 1927 on the Fukubu Electric Railway's section between Heiei Station (present-day Shinmei Station) and Ebata Station (some sources instead give its opening date as 26 July 1925, when the line as far as Fukui-shi Station came into service). On 1 August 1945 it passed to the Fukui Railway, formed by merger, becoming a station on its Fukubu Line. Freight handling ended on 1 March 1974, and in 1992 the station building was rebuilt, producing the present log-house-style structure. Express trains have stopped there since 30 November 1998, and it carries station number F12.
Notes
The station name, Asōzu, matches the place name where it stands, written 浅水, but the district's name derives from the former village of Asōzu, written 麻生津, from the old Asuwa District; nearby schools and facilities use both homophonous spellings interchangeably.
