Location

History

Aso Station was newly established on 8 November 1928, between Takihara Station and Ise-Kashiwazaki Station on the Railway Ministry's Kisei East Line. It became a station on the Kisei Main Line on 15 July 1959 under a line-name revision; freight handling ended on 1 February 1962, and baggage handling on 1 October 1964. It became unstaffed on 21 December 1983, and became a station of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) with the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. It is an at-grade station with one side platform and one track, unstaffed and managed by Taki Station; it has no station building, with only a waiting shelter on the platform. It was the only railway station in the former Ōmiya-chō area.

Notes

Near the station is the hot-spring facility "Aso Onsen," built on the site of a former elementary school.
