History

Ashigakubo Station opened on 14 October 1969 on the Seibu Chichibu Line at Ashigakubo in the town of Yokoze, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture, operated by Seibu Railway. It became a limited-express stop in 1973, but at the timetable revision of 26 March 1998 limited expresses began calling at neighbouring Yokoze and Ashigakubo was left with irregular stops apart from the "Okuchichibu"; the remaining "Okuchichibu" runs were withdrawn on 12 March 2003, leaving only irregular stops. From 1 March 2023 the station ceased to have permanently assigned staff and became a patrol-served halt, ending ticket sales at the window and vending machine and IC-card top-ups on site. Network-wide station numbering made it SI34 in fiscal 2012.

Notes

Trains slow as they pass the station during the annual Ashigakubo Icicles event, one of the Chichibu region's "three great icicles" and staged near the station.
