History
Asakadai Station opened on 6 August 1974 on the Tōbu Tōjō Line in Asaka, Saitama, primarily to provide a transfer point with the JR Musashino Line's Kita-Asaka Station, which had opened the year before. Initially served only by semi-expresses — which ran as all-stations services north of Narimasu — and local trains, the station became an express stop on 26 March 1998 to improve transfer convenience. Tōkyō Metro Fukutoshin Line through-services to Shibuya began on 14 June 2008, and Tōyoko/Minatomirai through-services to Yokohama and Motomachi-Chūkagai began on 16 March 2013. Station numbering was introduced on 17 March 2012, assigning TJ-13. Following the March 2023 timetable reorganisation, Rapid Express services now also call here, while Rapid services were abolished.
Notes
Asakadai shares its north-side plaza with JR East's Kita-Asaka Station on the Musashino Line; the two stops sit at right angles and connect via a roofed passage, making them effectively a single interchange despite their different names.
