History
Arimaguchi Station opened on 28 November 1928 as Karato Station with the Kobe Arima Electric Railway’s Arima Line between Minatogawa and Dentetsu-Arima (now Arima Onsen). The Kobe Arima Electric Railway merged with Miki Electric Railway on 9 January 1947, forming the operator now known as Kobe Electric Railway. The station was renamed Arima Onsenguchi on 20 March 1951 and took its current name on 1 September 1954. It serves as the terminus of the Sanda Line, which branches here from the Arima Line. Derailments occurred in the station yard in early 2006 and again on 28 May 2013; after the 2013 derailment, through services between Shinkaichi and Arima Onsen were suspended, resuming on 28 June 2014 when the track realignment work was completed.
Notes
Kobe Electric Railway's first full-color LED departure board was installed by 2008, and automated English-language announcements were also introduced out of consideration for foreign tourists.
