It came under JR East control with the privatization of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The station consists of a single island platform connected to the building by a footbridge and operates as a kan'i-itaku (simplified-commission) station. In fiscal 2015 average daily boardings stood at 777 passengers. The Takase River passes nearby.
