Location

History

Arako Station opened on 6 October 2004 as a station on the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit Aonami Line (officially the Nishi-Nagoya-kō Line), in Kirachō, Nakagawa-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Ahead of the opening, trial-ride events were held — one for residents along the line on 20 September and one for Nagoya citizens on 25 September of that year — and this station too was opened to the public for them. It is an elevated station built on an embankment, with a single island platform serving two tracks; one elevator is provided for accessibility, and platform doors are fitted on the platforms in both directions. In the Japanese National Railways era, a delta line was planned running from what is now the section between this station and Komoto Station to Hatta Station on the Kansai Main Line, but it was abandoned along with the collapse of the Nanpō Freight Line project.

Notes

The station-front roundabout has an equestrian statue depicting the first battle of Maeda Toshiie, a Sengoku-period military commander born in this area.
