Location

History

Aobe Station opened as a temporary station on 12 April 1931, with the extension of the Ōigawa Railway Ōigawa Main Line from Shimoizumi Station to a temporary "Aobe" station. Initially it operated on a provisional basis handling only freight between Suruga-Tokuyama Station and Aobe. On 1 December of the same year, with the extension to Senzu Station, it was formally upgraded to Aobe Station and the temporary station was abolished. It is an unstaffed station with a single side platform serving one track and a wooden station building, connected to the platform by a level crossing within the station grounds. It was suspended on 24 September 2022 due to landslide damage from Typhoon No. 15, but train service from the Senzu direction to this station resumed on 23 November 2024, after about two years.

Notes

The wooden station building retains its original appearance and has repeatedly been used as a filming location for movies such as Suna no Utsuwa, Honoo no Mai, and Hadaka no Taishō.
