History
Anō Station is a stop on the Keihan Electric Railway Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line in Anō 2-chōme, Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, with station number OT19. It opened on 15 May 1927 with the opening of the Biwako Railway & Steamship company's line between Yamagami (now abolished) and Matsunobaba. It became a stop on the Keihan Electric Railway's Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line through a merger on 11 April 1929, and a further merger made it a stop of Keihanshin Express Railway (now Hankyu Railway) on 1 October 1943. On 31 March 1945 the section from Shigasato Station through this stop to Sakamoto (now Sakamoto-Hieizanguchi Station) was singled for metal requisitioning, and on 15 May of the same year operations were suspended to prevent transport disruption. Service resumed on 10 September 1946, and after the postwar restoration of double track it again became a stop of Keihan Electric Railway on 1 December 1949.
Notes
This station served as the model for the fictional "Rokudai Station," the nearest station to the high school attended by the protagonist in the Kyoto Animation anime Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai!
