History

Aki-Nagatsuka Station opened as "Daishi" stop on 19 November 1928, on the Hiroshima Electric line between Shinjōbashi stop and (first-generation) Nagatsuka stop. It was transferred to the Kōhin Railway on 1 July 1931 and became that company's stop, was renamed (second-generation) Nagatsuka stop on 21 April 1933, and became Aki-Nagatsuka Station on the Railway Ministry's Kabe Line when the Kōhin Railway was nationalized on 1 September 1936. The station building was rebuilt in 1949, and the station passed to JR West at the division and privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The current station building was completed on 27 March 1998, and ICOCA became usable from 1 September 2007. On 28 November 2015 the station was reconfigured from one island platform with two tracks to two side platforms with two tracks.

Notes

The current low-roofed station building, completed in 1998, has a regular-dodecagon roof modelled on a nearby designated natural monument, the "Nagatsuka lotus pine."
