History
Akebonobashi Station is a Toei Shinjuku Line subway stop in Shinjuku, Tokyo, operated by Toei Subway under station number S-03. The underground station opened on 16 March 1980. It consists of two side platforms, with Platform 1 serving westbound trains for Shinjuku and the Keiō Line and Platform 2 serving eastbound trains for Motoyawata. The station sits directly beneath Akebonobashi, the bridge carrying Gaien-Higashi-dōri over Yasukuni-dōri, and provides walking access to the Ministry of Defense, Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital and Chuo University's Ichigaya campus.
Notes
The shopping street by the station, now called Akebonobashi-dōri, was formerly known as Fuji Television Street, after the broadcaster whose Kawadachō headquarters stood nearby until it moved to Daiba in 1997.
