History

Akasaka-ue Station opened as a station on Ueda Onsen Electric Tramway's Aoki Line and Kawanishi Line on 21 September 1932. It became a station on the Kawanishi Line when the Aoki Line was abolished in 1938, and was incorporated into the Bessho Line the following year, 1939, in a line-name change. It became a station of Ueda Maruko Electric Railway through the 1943 merger and of Ueda Kōtsū through the 1969 company-name change, and its location was changed in April 1951. The station building was rebuilt in November 1991, and it passed to the present Ueda Electric Railway on 3 October 2005 when the rail division was spun off as a subsidiary. It was formerly a staffed station but is now unstaffed, and was given station number BE04 when station numbering was introduced in August 2016.

Notes

The shutter of the automatic ticket machine is closed outside of train operating hours; it is opened by the driver of the first train and closed by the driver of the last train.
