Location

History

Aizu-Yokota Station opened on 20 August 1963 with the opening of the Japanese National Railways' Aizu Line (now the Tadami Line) between Aizu-Kawaguchi and Tadami. At the time, only Aizu-Gamō Station and this station had been established between Aizu-Kawaguchi and Tadami. It is located at Matsunokidaira, Yokota, Kaneyama, Ōnuma District, Fukushima Prefecture, and from opening was an unstaffed station handling passengers only. It began handling dedicated wagonload freight on 1 November 1964, but freight handling ended on 1 April 1976. It passed to JR East at the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987. It suspended operation because of the Niigata–Fukushima heavy rains of 30 July 2011, and resumed service, after a long period of bus substitution, on 1 October 2022 with the full reopening of the Tadami Line.

Notes

A dedicated line to the Yokota Mine once branched off here, and a wooden hopper stood within the station yard. Also, during the era of the Electric Power Development Company's dedicated line, "Yokota Signal Station" was established here, where freight trains from the Tagokura Dam side and the Aizu-Kawaguchi side passed each other.
