History
Aizu-Shiozawa Station opened on 1 February 1965 as a station on the Japanese National Railways' Aizu Line (now the Tadami Line), together with Honna, Aizu-Kosugawa, and Aizu-Ōshio stations. The section between Aizu-Kawaguchi and Tadami had opened on 20 August 1963 using Electric Power Development Company's dedicated line, and this station was established two years after that opening, as an unstaffed station handling passengers only. It is located at Ueda, Shiozawa, Tadami, Minamiaizu District, Fukushima Prefecture. It passed to JR East at the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987. It suspended operation because of the Niigata–Fukushima heavy rains of 30 July 2011, and bus substitution between Aizu-Kawaguchi and Tadami began on 1 November. Service resumed, and the bus substitution ended, on 1 October 2022 with the full reopening of the Tadami Line.
Notes
In September 2024, at the request of Tadami Town to promote use of the Tadami Line, the station building was repainted with a mural based on an episode from the film Seishun 18×2: Kimi e to Tsuzuku Michi (literally, "Seishun 18×2: The Road That Leads to You").
