History
Aizu-Kosugawa Station opened on 1 February 1965, together with Honna, Aizu-Ōshio, and Aizu-Shiozawa stations, on the Japanese National Railways' Aizu Line (now the Tadami Line). The section between Aizu-Kawaguchi and Tadami had opened on 20 August 1963 using Electric Power Development Company's dedicated line, and this station was added two years later. It is located at Nakayashiki, Koshikawa, Kaneyama, Ōnuma District, Fukushima Prefecture, and from opening was an unstaffed station handling passengers only. It passed to JR East at the National Railways' privatization and division on 1 April 1987. It suspended operation because of the Niigata–Fukushima heavy rains of 30 July 2011, and resumed service, after a long period of bus substitution, on 1 October 2022 with the full reopening of the Tadami Line.
Notes
At the time of opening, since a "Koshikawa Station" already existed on Hokkaido's Konpoku Line, this station was named with the old provincial name "Aizu" prefixed. The Konpoku Line's Koshikawa Station was abolished five years later, in 1970.
