History
Ainono Station opened on 10 October 1920 as a station on the Ministry of Railways' Nishi-Ōkoku Light Railway Line in Sannai Village, Hiraka District (present-day Yokote City, Akita Prefecture). Freight handling ended in 1970 and parcel handling in 1984, and the station became a JR East Kitakami Line station at the privatisation of the national railway in 1987. In 1996 a combined station building shared with the Sannai Fureai Kōryū Center opened, and in the same year a branch-office jurisdiction change placed the station under the Yokote stationmaster's management. It is today a ground-level station with an island platform serving two tracks, operated unstaffed under simplified consignment to Yokote City.
