Location

History

Abeyamakōen sits in Yukawa-Shinmachi 4-chōme, Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu, on JR Kyushu's Nippō Main Line; its station code is JF05. Japanese National Railways opened it as a provisional halt on 9 March 1987, initially unstaffed. When JR Kyushu took over with the privatisation on 1 April 1987 the halt was upgraded to a full station. Automatic ticket gates were installed on 22 September 2000, SUGOCA contactless ticketing began on 1 March 2009, and the Midori-no-Madoguchi staffed counter closed on 11 March 2022. Operation had been contracted to JR Kyushu Service Support from the station's opening until 1 October 2023, when JR Kyushu took over running it directly.

Notes

Abeyamakōen was unstaffed when it opened in 1987, but passenger numbers rose so sharply that the operator set up a tent from which to sell tickets, and later put up a prefabricated station building.
